Google Maps saves fuel and thus emissions

Google Maps uses AI to estimate fuel consumption and suggest routes that use less fuel with similar arrival times. This helps drivers spend less on fuel and reduce emissions. In its 2026 reporting, Google estimated that fuel-efficient routing avoided more than 3 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions in 2025.
